Oppo is known for releasing quality, well designed products. This is true in every segment of the electronics industry that they release their products in, and it most certainly goes for phones too. Last year we saw a new kind of phone from them, the Oppo N1, that wasn’t just a huge phone at 5.9-inches, it featured an amazing and unique camera that could swivel 206 degrees so that you can use the actual good camera for things like selfies and video calls. The N1 did pretty well for Oppo, sales wise, and garnered some great attention from the press and customers, and it looks like they will be following that up with the Oppo N3. What happened to the N2? We’ll never know for sure, but the same crew that’s been leaking the details for the N3 for a few days now is telling us that’s the name, so until we hear otherwise we’ll go with it.
Just two days ago we saw a brand new render that was purportedly leaked showing the Oppo N3 off, and to be quite frank it looked weird and uncomfortable. The swivel piece from the N1 was replaced with en entirely cylindrical top that swivels in place, looking like something out of an old fashioned type writer that had been torn apart. Today’s supposed leak looks much more authentic, and it falls right in line with the styling from the Oppo N1 plus a few new things that Oppo has been doing lately.
The render shows off a metallic unibody design complete with metal buttons on the left side of the phone, which is interesting because traditionally Oppo places the power button on the left side of the phone and the volume rocker on the right. This would mark a departure from Oppo’s designs if true, and would more closely follow the designs of Motorola or Xiaomi who also place all the buttons on a single side. Other notable parts of this image are the dual-LED flash next to the camera for extra brightness in dark scenes, and at least in the close-up render it even looks like it could be a duo-tone flash, which results in more natural colors coming from what’s usually an unnatural light source. Oppo is holding an event just next month where it’s likely to announce the N3, so stay peeled here and we’ll keep you updated as it breaks.
