LG G Watch is now $179 on Google Play

Today, Google and LG decided to drop the pricing of the LG G Watch to just $179. Making it the cheapest Android Wear smartwatch available  – at least in the US. With the Samsung Gear Live sitting at $199 and the Moto 360 at $249. This all happened on Apple’s Watch Day, which they just announced a few moments ago. Their watch will be out in early 2015 and will retail for $349. So this could be a preemptive strike at Apple, seeing as all of the current Android Wear smartwatches are cheaper, almost half of the Apple Watch, and are available now with a much nicer UI.

The LG G Watch has been my Android Wear watch of choice basically from Google I/O until last week when Motorola gave out the Moto 360 to all those that attended their event. And I have loved the LG G Watch. Sure it’s not the prettiest looking smartwatch out there, but it does everything it needs to do, and does it well. It does have 4GB of on-board storage along with half a gig of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor inside. So it does have some beefy specs for being a smartwatch.

If you haven’t already picked up the LG G Watch, or are looking for an Android Wear smartwatch just to play around with, then you might want to check out the LG G Watch. As it is a reference device, or a developers device. It’s a great watch, to be honest. And you can switch out the strap if you want too. We’ve got plenty that we’ve posted on the site over the last few months, if you need some ideas to choose from. How many of you are thinking of picking up the LG G Watch now that it’s on sale for $179? Be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
