LG's More Affordable G3 Beat Now Available to Pre-Order for RS 24,999 in India

When LG launched the G3 earlier on in the year, it was clear they had a winner on their hands. Squeezing a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 display into such a small device is no mean feat and the fact that they also stepped up their build quality was a nice touch as well. Not content to let the recognizable design of the G3 go to waste, LG introduced the LG G3 Beat, otherwise known as the LG G3 S, for those keen on LG’s new device without such deep pockets. Now, the device is heading East to India, and is available to pre-order.

The G3 Beat looks pretty similar to its older brother, but it’s a 5-inch 720p affair and rather than being powered by a Snapdragon 801, settles for the quad-core Snapdragon 400 clocked at 1.2 Ghz. Keeping the price down, there’s only 8GB of expandable storage here and just 1GB of RAM, but it does still support 4G networks and the 8-megapixel rear-facing camera has Laser autofocus to boot. It might be the same stunning powerhouse that the original G3 is, but at RS 24,999 it was never going to be. Besides, you’ll still be getting access to a lot of the G3’s features, like their overhauled UI that relies on flat elements and clean design, rather than the cluttered interfaces of their past.

The device is set to launch on September 13th and will be available inMetallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold and features a 2,540 mAh battery powering it all. For this sort of price, it’s nice to see LG giving Indians a little more choice without having to break the bank and while the G3 Beat isn’t exactly “mini”, it’s comfortable enough for one-handed use and that 8-megapixel camera is more than good enough for everyday shots and it’ll be quick thanks to the laser autofocus.
