Ride shares have been becoming increasingly popular over the last few years, and with services like Lyft and Uber they only seem to be getting better. Lyft for those of you that are unaware are the vehicles that you see driving around that have the pink mustache on the front. Because why not? Cars aren’t allowed to grow mustaches? Lyft was already a great value with the availability in many of the U.S. cities, allowing riders to get picked up and transported by a friendly individual with a vehicle that Lyft sends out to do the driving. Now Lyft has just made some changes and updates that make it an even more attractive option when looking for a ride that doesn’t require you getting behind the wheel.
Earlier this year Lyft piloted a feature of their service in San Francisco called Lyft Plus, where riders could request vehicles that would seat up to six people, allowing for larger groups to have a night out or make it to the family Sunday dinner across town. This would be an especially useful service when up to six people would need to go to the airport together. The only problem for riders in other areas was that the vehicles with more seating were only available in San Francisco.
Now Lyft is expanding on Lyft Plus and bringing it to the rest of the supported markets around the country, and the service is slated to appear in the app sometime this week according to the Lyft blog. So, if you’re planning on going out this weekend and you’ll have at least three or four other people with you, hit up Lyft and ride together. Lyft also stated that Lyft Plus costs will come down in price, which is also in itself, a plus. Prior to this expansion, Lyft Plus rides were twice the cost of a regular Lyft ride, and now they’re going to be one and a half times the cost. Lyft also notes that any drivers with vehicles that allow for six passengers can accept Lyft Plus requests, which means more available drivers. Do you already use Lyft? Will you now that Lyft Plus is making its way around?
