Yesterday, Motorola held a nice little press gathering in Chicago and well, they had quite a lot to announce. The company essentially released their whole lineup for the rest of 2014 and 2015, with the new Moto X and Moto G taking center stage, with the Moto 360 and a cool new headset coming along for the ride. They had more than just phones to announce today and one of the things that made the original Moto X so popular and successful was that it had some pretty sweet accessories available to match the style of your phone and well, you. Motorola is expanding upon that while bringing us a little more utility at the same time with the Power Pack Micro.
What the Power Pack Micro is is a fairly fairly small 1,500 mAh battery that fits on your set of keys. So what? Well, in true Motorola fashion it’s available in a number of different colors to match your style and it’s of course, a little more than just a small battery pack. It’ll also help you find your keys from your phone, with the Power Pack Micro bleeping for help when its owner has abandoned them and the opposite works too, with the Micro being able to help you find your phone. This sort of functionality might seem gimmicky, but considering there’s also a 1,500 mAh battery in there that could give you enough juice to get you through the rest of your day or evening, it’s a good deal at just $40.
There are other alternatives out there to make your keys a little more useful, Nomad’s ChargeKey is one example that gives you a small Key-shaped microUSB cable to charge your device wherever you are, but that’s all it does. If you’re on the move and you need some juice, you’re out of luck there, but of course there are tons of other cheaper battery packs out there. Still, we’d argue that being able to find where you lost things is pretty helpful for the extra money you’re likely to cough up here.
