@upleaks is at it again. This leaker hasn’t exactly been around for long, though it did have a couple of spot on leaks. I’d wait a couple more months to see how accurate is the rest of his leaked info until I judge his accuracy though. Either way, the leaker has shared something new with us via his Twitter account. “HTC is going to release MTK Octa-core powered phablet. hardware spec is almost the same as Desire816 except Chipset and RAM.” said the leaker.
As a reminder, the Desire 816 (which we’ve reviewed already) is sporting the extremely popular Snapdragon 400 processor by Qualcomm. The chip is clocked at 1.6GHz and comes with an Adreno 305 GPU for graphics processing. The device features a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) Super LCD2 display along with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card up to 128GB). 13-megapixel camera can be found at the back fo the device while there’s a 5-megapixel shooter up front. The device comes with a non-removable 2600mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box.
So I guess we can all agree this is a mid-range device and if @upleaks is to be believed the upcoming phablet will resemble this device spec-wise except for the processor and amount of RAM. MediaTek’s octa-core processor will be a part of the package according to the leaker and as for RAM I’m guessing 2GB of RAM will find its way into this device. This is just guess on my part, I doubt HTC would put only 1GB in there combined with an octa-core chip. As far as the display goes, it will stay the same if the leaker is to be believed. 720p resolution on a 5.5-inch display is something that I certainly won’t appreciate and I’m sure most of you won’t either, who knows though, perhaps HTC ends up bumping up the resolution a bit which would make this device somewhat more appealing to certain people I guess. No word on the release date though, we’ll just have to wait and see.
