Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 Is Getting Launched Onto EE's Superfast 4G LTE Network

EE, the UK’s largest mobile network operator formed from the merger of Orange and T-Mobile, have confirmed that they’re getting the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note 4. In the same announcement, EE also explained that the Note 4 will have access to their superfast 4G LTE service, which is available in over 250 of Britain’s major towns and cities. EE’s normal LTE service now covers 75% of the UK population. EE joins several other UK networks and retailers who have also confirmed that they’ll be stocking the new Samsung phablet. Phones4U have announced that they’ll have the exclusive on the gold model for the first eight weeks after launch, but you’ll be able to get an EE contract from here if it’s the gold version you’re after. Phones4U will also stock the black and white versions, too. Carphone Warehouse, O2 and Vodafone have also announced that they’ll be selling the new Samsung handset when it arrives later in the month but we don’t have any pricing or availability just yet.

Let’s recap about the Note 4, which was finally confirmed earlier today by Samsung at a Berlin event. The Note range typically has Samsung’s highest specifications and the Note 4 repeats this trend, being powered by either a 2.7 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU or Samsung’s in-house Exynos 5 Octa unit, which combines a quad core 1.9 GHz higher performance processor with a quad core 1.3 GHz high efficiency processor in a big.LITTLE arrangement. The processor is paired up to 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage plus a MicroSD card. The screen is a 5.7-inch “Quad HD” display features 2560 x 1440 pixels, that’s almost as many as the Nexus 10 tablet but on a much smaller screen. The Note 4 is kept powered up by a 3220 mAh rechargeable and replaceable battery. Samsung have included a 16 MP optically stabilized camera on the back and a 3.7 MP one on the front. Like the smaller Galaxy S5 cousin, the Note 4 comes with a heart rate sensor and fingerprint sensor (which is certified by PayPal). I’m also pleased to see Samsung has paid attention to sound quality on a call and has given the Note 4 three microphones with superior noise suppression.

On the software side, there’s no surprise that the Note 4 runs Samsung TouchWiz over Android 4.4.4. Samsung has improved a number of the Note’s special features, including the S Pen and Multi-Windows support. The task switcher looks a lot like Android L and has a shortcut straight to Multi-Window mode too. Are you interested in Samsung’s flagship model?
