Samsung is at it again – injecting more smartphone models into their already crowded lineup of devices. They are building on their Galaxy Alpha line up, the “A” series of phones, although we are not sure exactly where they fit in within the Galaxy S series and the Galaxy Note series. The Galaxy Alpha was certainly one of the most interest and best looking devices from Samsung in a while – their experiment into the metal smartphone that everybody was clamoring about, although with the new iPhone’s ‘flexible’ 6 series, I wonder just how good a metal body really holds up.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha made its entry as a well-crafted, but mid-range device – a great looking device for the boardroom or fund raiser crowd, but not the techie type. Our source claims that they have received information about three of the upcoming Galaxy A Series of smartphones. The Galaxy A series will all have LTE connectivity, including the Galaxy A3, which is the lowest priced of the three. That means the “A” series could show up in any market, including the U.S.
For now, there appears to be the Galaxy A3 that will carry a suggested price of somewhere between $350 – $400. The Galaxy A5 will run somewhere between $400 – $450 and the Galaxy A7 will be about $450 – $500. For whatever reason, the Galaxy A7 will not be as widely launched like the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5. No reason was given to our source, however, Samsung may be afraid that the Galaxy A7 may cannibalize sales of their top-dog, the Galaxy Alpha.
Specifications are still a little sketchy, but the Galaxy A5 is expected to sport a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. A Snapdragon 400 processor will power the device with 16GB of internal storage. It will also have a 5MP front-facing camera (FFC) and a 2330mAh battery for power. Their insider also told them that the body will be neither plastic nor metal, but a material that “feels cold in the hand,” like metal.
At any rate, they expect all three Galaxy A series devices to be launched sometime during the third quarter…so they better hurry up, as we will be into the fourth quarter next week. It will be interesting to see where the devices land and what material they are made from. Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know what you think about the “A” series from Samsung…as always, we would love to hear from you.
