Samsung’s second developer conference, also known as SDC 2014, is going to be held in San Francisco in November. Samsung has just released the topics of focus for the event this year and it’s pretty interesting and also tells us a lot about the direction Samsung is headed. The official list of topics is as follows, smart health, wearables, virtual reality, mobile, smart home, and games. As you can see, there is a much broader focus this year than just mobile and wearables.
Based on what Samsung is saying about the developer conference this year, the big thing here is connected devices or “connected living” as Samsung calls it. At the event Samsung will feature a series of sessions dedicated to wearables, “insight and tools to create contents for the Samsung Gear VR”, sessions focused on mobile, sessions focused on smart home, and last but not least, dedicated sessions for gaming. Samsung also says that “The conference will feature industry experts discussing how to design, develop and perfect applications that take advantage of the unique features of products that are always on.” This conference will be taking place at Moscone West this year which gives Samsung more than enough room to show off and do what they need to. This large space will allow Samsung to hold many sessions and get a lot of developers involved, something that is always great news.
We will more than likely see Samsung really push it’s dream of the “connected home” onto it’s developers and equip them with the tools to make it a reality. We here at Android Headlines are very interested in seeing what Samsung shows as it’s vision for the future connected smarthome, things like connected appliances, lighting, and automation are what Samsung wants in every home of the near-future. Your lights turning on and your air-conditioner or heater kicking on just before you walk into your house, or being able to control all of your appliances as well as your lights with your smartphone, these are things that Samsung wants in every home.
