Description: Equalizer Music Player is an Android application that does exactly what you think it does, it’s a music player that also allows you to equalize how things sound on your device. As a music player it supports MP3, MP4, MP2, MP1, OGG, WAV, AIFF, MIDI, AAC, 3GP, XM, IT, S3M, MOD, MTM, UMX, MO3, MP4, M4A, OTA formats and as an equalizer, it features a graphical slider along with some pretty simple to use presets to help your music sound the best it can on your smartphone or tablet. With so many music players out there, many of them with their own equalizer settings, just how does this shape up?
How it Works: You’ll first need to download Equalizer Music Player from the Play Store. You’ll also need to make sure that you have music downloaded on to your device, as you can’t use Google Play Music or Spotify with this. Once you have the app installed, you can and go ahead and take a look at the app.
You can choose music to play by sorting by Artist or Album or just choose a folder from your device’s storage. When you’re playing a track, you can equalize your music using the studio-like sliders.
You can adjust how the songs sound in terms of size and you can also choose from a number of different presets as well.
You can slide out the menu from the side to get access to more features, and if you want to pay for the more advanced version of the app you’ll get access to virtual surround sound and more.
With some advanced settings like shake to skip, Equalizer Music Player is a pretty decent music player.
Opinion: On the face of it, Equalizer Music Player is a fairly decent music player, but the user interface is a little clunky and these days, music player apps are all over the place. Still, this is one of the easier apps I’ve used to change how my music sounds without digging through a load of settings. Sadly though, I can’t use Google Play Music, which is how I get all of my music. Having said that, for those that don’t have access to Google Play Music or Spotify, this is a good app to make the most of those microSD cards and help your favorite songs really shine.
Ratings
- Speed (4/5) – The app runs fine and there’s no issues here with speed, but it sadly didn’t load on my tablet.
- Features (4/5) – Even if the UI is a little clunky, the app does work well as a music player and the added equalizer settings help you make the most of your music.
- Theme (3/5) – The UI here does need some work as things are quite clunky and transitions aren’t as smooth as they could be, but everything is easily found.
- Overall (3.75/5) – Equalizer Music Player works well as a music player to help you find and play your songs, and add in the equalizer settings and you’ve got yourself a decent app that just needs some UI work and tightening of bolts.
Pros
- Equalizer Music Player is a good option for those that rely on local storage rather than internet services.
- Easy enough to use with a UI that is laid out in a familiar fashion.
- Equalizer sliders are easy to get to and they give you a lot of control.
- Presets can help you make the most of your music without spending hours on tuning things up.
Cons
- User interface does need some work as it feels a little clunky.
- Won’t be of much use to those that rely on Google Play Music or Spotify.
Conclusion: Equalizer Music Player is a good option if you rely on local storage and want to try out changing settings without having to jump through any hoops. There’s something to be said for how easy this makes it to tune your settings to just how you like them, but overall this is a decent music player as well. With some attention to detail on the UI front, Equalizer Music Player would be a much better option.
