Sponsored Game Review: 60 Days Zombie Story Game

Description: 60 Days Zombie Story is a game for Android that focuses, well, on its story. Instead of Dead Trigger’s gory, action-heavy focus on typical Zombie tropes, 60 Days Zombie Story is a more in-depth, and more focused look at what it might be like to take on the role of someone stuck in a Zombie Apocalypse. A definite for Zombie fans, putting yourself in the shoes of Gavin, Brandi, Ted or Lucy will definitely bring back memories from the Walking Dead games, but it’s more a Zombie quiz game than anything else, with each wrong answer putting your chosen character at the peril of the Zombie hoardes. Rather than that try to explain, how about we take a closer look?

How it Works: You’ll first need to download 60 Days Zombie Story from the Play Store, after that you’ll be asked to put together an alias for your adventures.

When you start the game each time, you’ll see how many days are left out of the sixty you’re given to play with.

Starting a new game will tell a little more about the game, which essentially asks you to stick to the role-playing formula to be any good at the game, and have fun at the same time.

After you’ve let that soak in, you can go ahead and choose your character, which is kind of like choosing a character in a Dungeons and Dragons game or something similar. You’re given a quick description about each of them, and how well you keep this description in mind will determine how well you’ll do over the course of the game.

Each set of 10 questions is broken into Chapters, and each character will face the same Chapter, but the situations they come across will be different, but some of them are similar.

You have a little time to answer these questions, before the display goes completely dark. If you get it right, you’ll have survived and be able to move on to the next question. If you didn’t get it right, you get a second-chance question, leaving the outcome up to a 33% chance.

I didn’t really do so well with Lucy, so instead I changed to Gavin and I ended up answering and surviving a lot more questions.

I don’t want to ruin the questions for you, as that’s an adventure you’ll have to undertake yourself, but you can always take a look at your progress to see how well you’re doing.

Opinion: I’m not a big fan of Zombie games that simply tread the same old line of giving me lots of gore and lots of bodies to tear through. Instead, I’m more into the apocalyptic side of these games and 60 Days brings that out nicely. It’s all about making the right sort of decisions judged on what sort of character you chose and after a couple of chapters you feel like you really know the character and that you’re almost one and the same with your chosen avatar. The gameplay might not be to everyone’s taste, but if you’re more interested in story than anything else, then you should really take to this and it goes without saying that fans of Zombie movies and literature will love this.

Ratings

  • Speed (4/5) – There’s a nice and relaxed pace to 60 Days Zombie, but you still need to keep on your toes.
  • Features (4/5) – For Zombie fans and those that prefer a good story to a good-looking game with whizz-bang features, 60 Days has a lot of depth to it and is very satisfying.
  • Theme (4/5) – I do wish that there was a little more artwork included, but there’s more than enough here and it all looks good, almost like you’re living between the pages of a comic book.
  • Overall (4/5) – A refreshing change of pace form your regular Zombie games, 60 Days is a nice, relaxed game that will still keep you on your toes and it has a lot of depth to it.

Pros

  • Great game for fans of Zombie books and movies without having to use tricky controls or get weighed down with too much violence.
  • Works well on phones no matter where you are, it’s almost like a book so you can read it on the train, before you go to bed, it’s a nice relaxed attitude.
  • Different chapters help give the game a real sense of progression from one scene to the next.
  • Different characters change the way you play the game, so there’s a lot of replayability here as well.

Cons

  • I wish there were more of the great artwork used throughout the game.
  • Big action fans and shooter fans might be disappointed by the change of pace here.

Conclusion: 60 Days is an excellent game if you’re really into Zombie literature, and it’s a nice refreshing change from the usual games we see on Android. If you’re a big reader, or just a fan of story instead of gameplay or graphics then you’ll find a lot of depth to this and the different characters make each play through different. Add in the fact that there’s a lot of chapters on offer and 60 days should keep you on the edge of your seat for a lot longer than you think.
