Sponsored Game Review: Motorcycle Driving School

Description: Motorcycle Driving School is an Android game that, unsurprisingly, aims to simulate what it’s like to drive properly on the streets when riding a motorbike. It’s a simulator type of game that awards points for signalling, sticking to the speed limit and of course, not crashing. It features tilt-to-steer as well as other controls like putting on your left and right signals and more. Everything is rendered fully in 3D, including other cars on the road and there are numerous different bikes as well as other environments to drive through as you try your best to stay within the law on your motorbike. With 40 different levels and a point-of-view camera, Motorcycle Driving School is one of the most real games you’ll find on Android for budding motorcyclists. So, just how good is it?

How it Works: You’ll first need to download Motorcycle Driving School from the Play Store, and then you’re ready to go.

You’re then able to choose your bike as well as sign-in using either Facebook or Google+, you’ll unlock more bikes, the more you play and the better you do.

Once you’ve selected your bike, you can then choose what sort of environment you want to drive around, I’m going to choose something out of the city and during the day, but there’s more than enough on offer here to give players a nice variety.

Setting off is a little disconcerting, as the steering feels fairly wooden, but this is more of a simulator than it is anything else. Needless to say, the game is a lot of fun and it will give you directions on a sort of route, testing you as you go.

You’re awarded XP points – which go towards unlocking things – when you follow the rules, like using your signals as you turn a bend.

To get an even closer look at the action, you can just hit the camera button at the top-right.

Of course, if you crash, then that’s that – game over.

I’m clearly not that good at this, but I was struck by just how much depth there was to the game, and it’s something that any keen motorcyclist or driver should take a look at.

Opinion: Motorcycle Driving School is a lot of fun, and a game that will appeal to those that like to do things the “proper way”. If you enjoy having to thread the needle and make sure you’re being as precise as possible, then this is a game that you’ll really take to and enjoy. I especially like that there was a real amount of depth to the game, there’s more routes, bikes and driving conditions than we can show off here, so if you really want to get a feel for it just download it – it is free after all. Having said that, I do wish that the indicators were placed more sensibly and the steering does feel a little wooden, but then again the physics are lined up to be fairly realistic in the first place.

Ratings

  • Speed (4/5) – The game ran fine on my tablet, and I had no issues with the game in that regard.
  • Features (5/5) – With an emphasis on realism, the physics and everything else at the heart of Motorocycle Driving School really shows the attention to detail, and there’s a lot of depth here.
  • Theme (4/5) – While things could be a little higher-resolution, the game still runs well and the 3D graphics are consistent and the bike models nice to look at.
  • Overall (4/5) – A nice simulator game that doesn’t feel too stuffy, has a lot of depth to it, looks good and is packed with features.

Pros

  • Good option for those looking for a more realistic Motorcycle game in a sea of car racing games.
  • Looks good with some decent 3D graphics, that always runs smooth and is consistent.
  • First-person view is an even nicer touch on the realism featured throughout.
  • It takes a while to earn XP points, but it is rewarding when you ‘play by the rules’

Cons

  • 3D graphics could be just a little sharper.
  • Tilt steering can feel a little ‘wooden’.

Conclusion: For those that are after a more believable experience, Motorcycle Driving School is an excellent Android game that doesn’t ask too much of its players, while also offering the associated level of realism from stuffier games. A fun, pleasant to play driving game with an excellent amount of depth, Motorcycle Driving School is well worth a try and if you want to learn what it’s like to ride a bike on the roads, this can certainly give you a taste.
