Spotify Now Available on the Amazon Fire TV in the US

While Amazon’s Music service hasn’t gotten all that great of a reception amongst users. The Fire TV actually has. It’s a great little set-top box that does plenty of good stuff. And Amazon just keeps adding more and more content and services to the Fire TV. I have one, and I really do like it. I use it in addition to my Chromecast. So I’ve got the best of both worlds.

Today, Spotify announced that it was making it’s debut on the Amazon Fire TV, at least for those in the US. Which just recently, Amazon opened up the Fire TV to more countries – it actually happened earlier this month. According to Spotify’s statement:

“From today, music lovers in the US can enjoy Spotify on theirAmazonFireTV using their mobile or tablet as a remote.

Using Spotify Connect on your AmazonFireTV allows you to control your music using the Spotify app on your mobile or tablet. You can seamlessly switch your favorite music from your mobile to the TV and continue to make calls, use other smartphone apps and go out of wifi range, all without interrupting the music.”

Spotify brings over 200 million songs to Amazon’s Fire TV, which is a lot more than what Amazon Prime Music has right now. So if you already subscribe to Spotify, this is a big deal, at least in my opinion. And if you’ve been thinking about dumping Google Play Music All Access due to the deauthorization situation there, this might be a big reason to jump to Spotify as a replacement.

So how many of you have actually bought the Amazon Fire TV? How are you liking it so far? The Gaming aspect of it is really nice, as it does play games really well, at least for me. Let us know in the comments below.
