TELUS: Confirms New Moto X & Moto 360

The new Moto X and Moto 360 were just announced this week at an event in Chicago that our Editor Alex was fortunate enough to attend, and now we are hearing from the many different carriers that plan to carry the newest devices from Motorola.  TELUS has informed our source received in an email that they will indeed carry the new Moto X and it should be on sale soon.  They will offer it up in either Black or Bamboo – no price was quoted nor exact date of release…simply “this Fall.”  The Moto 360 watch will sale for $279, but again, no date was announced.

The new Moto X (not the Moto X+1) is all new – oh it has that Moto X family resemblance, but it is all new, inside and out.  Motorola started with an aluminum frame rather than plastic and added a 5.2-inch AMOLED Full HD display (up from HD) with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and 423 Pixels-Per-Inch (PPI).  They stuck with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, but this time around went for the 801 quad-core model clocked at 2.5GHz.  They coupled that to an Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage…no expansion is available.  They upped the camera to 13MP with a ‘Ring Flash’ mounted around the camera lens and included a 2MP front-facing camera (FFC) for video chatting and selfies.  For better sound they included dual front-facing speakers and for power they gave the Moto X a 2300mAh battery and it will come with Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

The Moto 360 is their long awaited smartwatch and quite the beauty it is – a 1.56-inch LCD display with 320 x 290 pixels covered by Gorilla Glass.  It measures 46mm in diameter and is 11.5mm thick, weighing in at 60 grams without a strap.  Rather than using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor like the G Watch and Gear Live, Motorola chose to go with the Texas Instrument TI OMAP 3 processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage.  It comes with Bluetooth 4.0 LE to pair with your smartphone.  It is powered with a 320mAh battery and comes with a wireless charger in the box.

Are you as excited as we are about the new Motorola products?  Do you plan on picking one of these great devices up this Fall – or maybe even BOTH of them…please hit us up on our Google+ Page and and let us know what you think…as always, we would love to hear from you.
