Unlocked and Bloat-Free Moto X (2014) Rumored to be the "Pure Edition"

While I was at Motorola’s event last week where they announced the Moto X (2014) and the Moto G (2014), Motorola did inform us that there would be an unlocked version of the Moto X. That would work on both T-Mobile and AT&T. As we all know, there’s no plans for a Developer Edition for Verizon right now. That unlocked model would be priced at $499, just like the off-contract price of the carrier-branded phones. Which isn’t actually a bad price, when you think about it. As the Moto X does have all the latest specs, when compared to last year’s model. Now we’re hearing rumors out of The Verge that the unlocked and bloat-free edition of the Moto X would be named the “Pure Edition”. Which makes sense, as it would be a pure Moto X. But I’m not completely sold on it being the name.

The Moto X (2014) is due to be released later this month, and will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage without a microSD card slot, 13MP camera with a flash ring (it takes really great pictures by the way), along with a 2300mAh battery inside. Which everyone was dismissing the Moto X for having such a small battery. But I’ve been using the Moto X on AT&T for the past week and the battery has been amazing. It’s enough to get you through a normal day, which is all most of us need anyways, right? It’s also got Android 4.4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box.

So the Moto X Pure Edition, I like the name, just not sure that will be the final name of this model. But as long as it has Moto Maker customization, I’ll be happy. Right now I’m in love with the leather back, so I’ll likely be picking up an unlocked version when it’s available.
