XE 20.1 Update Brings Lots Of New Features And Improvements To Google Glass

Google has started rolling out XE 20.1 update for Google Glass. XE 19.1 (update prior to this one) mainly fixed bugs and optimized the experience, this update brings with it a bunch of new features and improvements. Let’s see what’s it all about. All your Google Contacts will now be available on Glass, with up to 20 of your most recent and starred contact being displayed for quick voice access. You can access the rest of them via simple swipe. After you select the contact you’d like to… well, contact, you can do that via Gmail, Hangouts or SMS.

Slight nudge of your head was always the option available to turn of the display on Google Glass, after you install the XE 20.1 update you’ll see this card pinned separately in the settings bundle where you can turn it on and off. Do note that this option is “off” by default though, so you’ll have to turn it on if you want to use it. Head Wake Up feature which turns on your display needs to be enabled separately via settings. This update also updated both Android and iOS version of the MyGlass app, Glass’ companion app. After the update, it will sync your contact from People app automatically, though you will first have to import your contacts to Google’s servers if you’re an iOS user. XE 20.1 update also brings some notable changes to Google Now. After the update is installed, Glass users will be able to find concerts and festivals near them, the information will be located within the “Nearby Events” card. The update also brings a new currency converter card in case you need to convert from one currency to another at any given time. Lots of bug fixes and improvements are also a part of the update, as always.

As you can see, Google really did pack a lot of punch in this XE 20.1 update for Google Glass. The rollout has already started so it shouldn’t take long until it reaches you, if it hasn’t already that is. For those of you who own Glass, did you received the update and tested these features out yet?
