Xiaomi is doing great business this year. The company has moved 44 million units in the first 3 quarters this year and is close to their goal of 60 million units which they’ll probably achieve by the end of this year. Not only is Xiaomi the number 1 manufacturer in China but the company is also doing great in India and they’re soon going to expand to Brazil (and the rest of South America) while they’re planning a move towards Russia soon after that. Hugo Barra, Vice President of International for Xiaomi, has even said that the company is looking into making an Android One device in the future.
Co-founder of Xiaomi, Liwan Jiang, held an interview during which he shared some number with the public. He said that in the second quarter this year Xiaomi shipped 16 million units out of which 11.19 million were purchased online, which is about 70% of Xiaomi’s overall purchases. Xiaomi’s shipment grew by 20% in the third quarter this years compared to the previous quarter, which means the company shipped about 18 million units in Q3. Mr. Jiang also said that online channels are the main way the company is selling their devices which clearly shows, the company sold 3/4 of their devices that way and they keep costs to a minimum as well considering they don’t have stores opened all around the world. Company’s co-founder also added that Xiaomi’s user base is large enough as it is, though it seems that user base is going to become a whole lot bigger as time goes by considering Xiaomi plans to move 100 million units in 2015, as was reported earlier. According to Mr. Jiang, the company is planning to double its sales this month, compared to October last year.
There are truly great number for this Chinese manufacturer and it seems their business is on its way up. The rate at which this company is growing is quite astounding and it seems there is no stopping them. Xiaomi will only further expand its business starting with the biggest markets in the world and probably work their way from there. Have you ever handled a Xiaomi handset?
