Amazon has begun shipping two of its brand new tablets, as well as a brand new Kindle e-reader. The two new Kindle Fire Tablets are the Kindle Fire HD 6 and the Kindle Fire HD 7. All three of these devices were unveiled last month along side two other tablet models. The first wave of those devices is now shipping which means in a matter of days there will be some happy consumers who will be holding a lovely new tech toy with which to do some reading, movie watching, or game playing, or all of the above. Unless you bought the kindle. Then all you can do is read, sorry.
Both Amazon’s new Kindle Fire HD 6 and Kindle Fire HD 7 start at whopping low cost prices of $99, and $139, which isn’t really out of the ordinary for Amazon as they have offered all of their previous products for extremely low prices before. Essentially their goal is to get a low cost decent tablet into the hands of consumers, and give them quick and easy access to the things they love through Amazon, which works. A 6-inch tablet seems a bit odd especially now that there are more than a few phone with that size display, but some people really enjoy the 6-inch screen and might prefer to have a tablet in 6-inches as opposed to a phone. The Kindle Fire HD 6 comes with two storage space options, either 8GB or 16GB models, both packing the same 1.5GHz quad-core processor on the inside. They come with cameras on the front and the back of course, with the rear camera for pictures when you need them and the tablet is all you have on you, and the front camera for video chat.
The Kindle Fire HD 7 is essentially the same on all levels as the HD 6, expect for that it has dual stereo speakers and the Fire HD 6 does not, as it only has a singular speaker for the audio. The screen resolution on both tablets is 1280 x 800, so decent enough for the size of the screens, although not class leading. They are entry level tablets though, after all, so we suspect that consumers won’t really care much about that as they could easily order the higher-end models with the better specs and bigger screens should they have a desire to have them. Do you currently own a Kindle Fire tablet? Is it time for an upgrade?
