Sprint Updates the LG G2 With Improved HD Voice and More
LG’s G2 is getting a nice little update on Sprint this week, to version ‘ZVE’ which not only rolls off the tongue well, but should improve voice quality thanks to “Enhancements to HD Voice” and there’s a security patch from the big Goog’ themselves and better LTE reception, apparently. NVIDIA’s SHIELD TABLET GETS UPDATED TO SOFTWARE VERSION 1.2.1
EARLIER THIS WEEK, NVIDIA UPDATED THE SHIELD TABLET TO SOFTWARE VERSION 1.2.1 AND WHILE IT DIDN’T FEATURE ANYTHING TOO CRAZY, IT DID IMPROVE PERFORMANCE ON 5 GH WIFI NETWORKS AS WELL AS SOME INTERESTING CHARGING QUIRKS. THERE’S MORE INFO DIRECT FROM NVIDIA, HERE.
Both T-Mobile and Verizon Variants of the HTC One (M8) Get Their Eye Experience Updates
By now, HTC One (M8) owners will be familiar with the Eye Experience that HTC has been promising for a little while now, essentially it gives your M8 new powers like the auto-selfie and more. Those on T-Mobile should already have gotten the update, which comes in at 255MB and features the software version of 3.32.531.2, meanwhile those on Verizon should expect a similar build number and a download of 210MB or so.
Meizu Updates the MX2 and MX3 to Flyme OS 3.8.5A
If you’re the proud owner of the MX2 or MX3 from Meizu, you’ll be happy to hear that there’s a new software version available for Flyme OS. It should be noted however that this is a beta piece of software and should be treated as one. If you’re already running Flyme OS 3.8.4A then you’ll be to update to 3.8.5A over the air. Otherwise, you can download the package to manually update the MX2 here and the MX3 here. There’s not too much in these new updates, but a quick look at the Meizu forums will fill you in if needs be.
T-Mobile’s Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 Gets Android 4.4.4 KitKat in Latest Update
For those of you on T-Mobile with the 8-inch tablet from Samsung with the imaginative name of Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 will be getting the update to Android 4.4.4 KitKat this week. It’s a sizable update coming in at 277MB and while this does change the Android version, you won’t notice too much due to TouchWiz being its usual self. The software version you’re looking for is T337TUVU1BNI8 and you can find more from T-Mobile here.
Small Sony Xperia E1 Update Rolls Out
For those with the little smartphone that could, Sony’s Xperia E1, there’s a new update rolling out throughout the Middle East, Asia and parts of Europe. The update features software version 20.1.A.2.13 and it appears to be the usual bevy of bugfixes and updates. A nice update to have though, that’s for sure.
LG G Watch, Moto 360 and Gear Live Get Updated to Android Wear 4.4W.2
Earlier this week, the G Watch got updated to Android 4.4W.2 which bought with it GPS support (which the G Watch doesn’t have) as well as a nice feature that allows you to move cards down on the watch face to get a better look at your watch face. A neat feature for fans of Facer and the like. Now though, the Gear Live is getting the very same update. It should hit your device over the next couple of days if it hasn’t done so already. Not to be left out of the party, the Moto 360 also comes along for the ride with some extra changes that you can read about directly from Moto themselves.
Sprint Bring New Update to the Samsung Galaxy Mega
The Galaxy Mega on Sprint is getting essentially the same sort of fixes that the LG G2 did above, but it’s no less nice to see the device kept up-to-date. The update is labelled NJ1 and features HD voice enhancements and some LTE improvements. You can read more from Sprint here.
Both Sprint’s HTC One (M8) and E8 Get the Same Small OTA
What’s the difference between the E8 and the M8 I hear you say? Well, it’s basically material (and no, not that kind of Material) and the swapping of two cameras for one 13-megapixel shooter on the E8. With that out of the way, let’s talk WiFI Calling, ‘cos what both of these are getting updated with. The M8 gets software version 3.30.651.2 which you can read more about here and the E8 gets 1.22.651.1 which you can read about here.
