Barnes And Noble Launches The Samsung Galaxy Tab Nook 10.1 For $300

If you remember not too long ago we reported that Barnes and Noble were partnering up with Samsung to bring two new tablets to market called the Galaxy Tab Nook, in 7-inch and 10.1-inch sizes. The 7-inch tablet was launched a couple of months back, and now the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab Nook has been announced and launched, and can be purchased straight from the Barnes and Noble website for $300. We all have different personal tastes when it comes to everything including our mobile devices, and that applies here too with what we prefer to use for reading and browsing and other mobile related tasks. The Galaxy Tab Nook 10.1 is still a Samsung Android based tablet, and although with Amazon’s similar Fire tablets there is no Google core apps involved, the Galaxy Tab Nook 10.1(just like the 7-inch)will include the Play Store and compatibility with Google’s other core applications.

The focus here though is still Barnes and Noble’s Nook software which they push to the forefront to grab attention from the users, which they hope will opt to read books and other content through the Nook app as opposed to other sources like Play Books, the Kindle App and others. With Barnes and Noble now focusing solely on the software front when it comes to the Nook line of devices, they can focus all their attention on bringing users the best possible reading experience, which is something users and fans of the Nook devices or software should be happy about.

The Galaxy Tab Nook 10.1 is not your go-to if you’re looking for a top of the line tablet that takes a “best specs” approach, however if you use your tablet more for reading than other functions and already buy books from Barnes and Noble, it’s not a bad device to consider. Barnes and Noble is even offering up free content to consumers who pick up a Galaxy Tab Nook 10.1 in the way of free e-books and episodes of TV shows. No specifics were stated on the e-book front, so we can assume that the free e-books will be at the users discretion, albeit from a selection of pre determined titles most likely though. In addition to the e-books, consumers will also get one episode each of Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Newsroom, and The Octonauts. There’s also a 14-day free trial for magazine subscriptions. If this deal sounds good to you, head to the Barnes and Noble website and give the Galaxy Tab Nook 10.1 a closer look.
