Remember the story we did on the Dell Venue 8 7000 tablet? The information on it was very brief as was Dell’s quiet announcement. According to folks that have a coupon code to receive the tablet for free, announced they have received a notice that the tablet will ship at the end of November. Although Dell has not announced the sale of the tablet, this could be an indication as to when the tablet may be available to buy. In the fine print on the voucher, they mention that the value is $499. Hopefully this is an indication of the sale price of the tablet. Since this would allow for sales in the holiday season, it would make sense that the tablet would be available for sale at the end of November.
Specifications for the tablet that have been revealed are being touted as the world’s thinnest tablet at 6.0mm. The tablet will run on Android 4.4.x Kit Kat. The tablet will be powered by an Intel Atom Z3500 (Moorsfield). The CPU is a quad core design with 2MB L2 Cache which have Burst Performance Technology. The clock speed comes in at 1.33 GHZ up to 2.33 GHZ from turbo. The display is an 8.4 inch WQXGA (2560×1600) 2K quality. The rear of the tablet has 3 back facing cameras that are to be used for greater sense of depth. This is similar to the HTC M8 camera, but they use 2 cameras instead of 3.
The design is quite unique with three sides having a very thin bezel and one side having a thicker bezel with the camera inserted in it, along with the speaker grill. The tablet looks very sleek and thin, with a quality look, definitely quite a few steps up from Dell’s first ever Android tablet, the Dell Streak 7 which landed on T-Mobile some years ago. I find the design very appealing and with the specs listed above, I can’t wait to see the release and how it will perform against its competitors. Let’s hope for some more info real soon.
