The Samsung Galaxy Tab S series of tablets were very important devices for Samsung, it was the series that brought AMOLED displays back to Samsung tablets. They were great tablets that sported absolutely stunning displays that really showed the potential of tablets with AMOLED displays. Unfortunately there was one thing about these beautiful pieces of hardware that dragged them down, performance issues. These performance issues were due to Samsung choosing to use the Exynos 5420 processor, a processor that at the time was about a year old. A processor like that trying to handle a display with a high resolution of 2550x1600p isn’t ideal by any means.
Thankfully Samsung may be gearing up to fix the old processor issue that plagues the current Galaxy Tab. Sam Mobile, a Samsung-based news site, is reporting that Samsung may be working on a new model of the Galaxy Tab S that will be packing an Exynos 5433 processor. What’s the big deal about this? Well, the Exynos 5433 processor is arguable the fastest processor currently on the market, this would more than fix the Galaxy Tab S series problem of using outdated processors. In benchmarks the Exynos 5433 processor easily competes with the likes of Nvidia’s fastest mobile processor, the Tegra K1, that’s fast.
Sam Mobile got this information from a recent benchmark that popped-up in the Geekbench benchmark database. The benchmark test shows a Galaxy Tab S being powered by an Exynos 5433 processor had been tested. Right now no other information is available about this new mystery Galaxy Tab S besides a possible release window. Sam Mobile reports that they have received information that the Exynos-powered Galaxy Tab S should be launching between mid-October and early November.
Did any of you guys pick up a Galaxy Tab S when it was released? If you did, did you notice the performance issues that so many people claimed it suffered from? Either way, hopefully we see this new version of the Galaxy Tab S hit the US market but we seriously doubt that will ever happen. Let us know your opinion in the comments section below.
