Meizu held a conference in China today and they had tons of news to share with the public. The company has announced partnership with Alibaba and along with that implementation of YunOS to Flyme OS. YunOS is an Android ROM which is available for a long time now and Meizu invested some cash in company behind YunOS a while ago, a company called Alibaba. Both of those companies announced this partnership actually, parts of YunOS will be implemented in Meizu’s Flyme OS and we’ll probably see them in the next big update of that operating system which is currently in its version 4 stage. That’s not the main point of this article though, we’ve covered the event in a separate article which you can check out here.
Meizu did announce 2 new versions of Meizu MX4 at that event though, Gold version and Silverwing version. Both of these devices carry the same specifications as the original MX4 and are almost the same, let’s see what’s different. Gold version is basically the original MX4 but painted in gold color, that’s it. We’ve seen this device mentioned multiple times over the last couple of weeks and it’s finally here. Silverwing version is a bit more interesting though, this version offers a solid aluminum frame build and a glossy back cover, that’s it. Everything else is basically the same as on the original, at least as far as we know.
Meizu has announced that 10,000 gold versions of Meizu MX4 handsets will be available for pre-order tomorrow. This offer includes only China though, so if you live over there and you want to get the gold colored MX4, this is your chance. I have no doubt that these devices will sell out quickly, s you’ll have to act fast. The other version Meizu announced, Silverwing, will be available for pre-order from Taobao, Tmall and Weibo at 10am tomorrow (local time), same goes for the Gold version as well (in case you’re not able to get one of the 10,000 units that is). Both of these devices are expected to be priced at 1799 Yuan ($294).
In case you live outside of China and want to get your hands on either of these devices, you can’t at the moment. Meizu did however say that they’ll announce on their Facebook page when international consumers will get the chance to purchase these devices, so stay tuned.
