Google Announces Notification Sync on Glass This Week

Google is announcing something new today that involves Glass and an Android smartphone – notifications – much like the ones on Android Wear.  I am just surprised that it took Google this long to implement them on Glass, which seems like the perfect place to show you a notification.  No more need to take you smartphone out of your pocket when your notifications are sent directly to your Glass and end up right in front of your eye…with Glass on, you don’t even need to raise your arm to look at your Android Wear Smartwatch.  Google posted:

“The latest Glass update is heading your way this week.  You’ll also need the newest version of MyGlass (v3.3.0).  Don’t worry, it’ll be here on Wednesday.  Until then, check out this short video to learn how to set it up.” The new notification app grants Google MyGlass app notification access – all notifications will now be sent to your Glass…before only apps compatible with Glass – like Gmail or Hangouts – could send notifications.  The update should come on Wednesday and the video below is a short tutorial of how to set it up the notification Sync.

It will ask you if you want to turn on or dismiss notification sync – then it will ask you if you want to see notifications from your phone on Glass, to tap the button below to go to your notification access settings in your phone and to check the box for MyGlass.  After you tap MyGlass, you will get a message that says, “MyGlass will be able to read all notifications posted by the system or any installed app, which may include personal information such as contact names and the text of messages sent to you.  It will also be able to dismiss these notifications or touch action buttons within them.”  Then it will tell you that Notification sync is on.  After that if will show you a couple examples of real notifications being sent. Glass is also expected to get an update to version 22.0, with an expected launch “this week” – it will add alternate navigation routes.  Please hook up with us on our Google+ Page and let us know if you use Glass and are looking forward to the new notifications…and how you have waited so long to get them…as always, we would love to hear from you.
