By now you should have become a bit more familiar with Google’s new email client dubbed Inbox. As we know, Inbox was rumored to be in the works a few days ago. In a strange turn of events, within a couple of hours of the reporting of it just being a rumor it was already being officially confirmed by Google. Again, within another couple of hours the official confirmation turned into an official launch with Inbox available to download. However, downloading did not mean you could actually use it. No, instead Google launched Inbox as an invite only system. How to get invited? Well by a friend or by emailing [email protected] and asking for one.
Yesterday it was reported that invites had begun sporadically being sent out on mass to those who made the initial invite requests. In spite of multiple reports of users receiving an invite yesterday there were even more reports from users who have not received an invite. As such many of you are still waiting to try the new Google mail client.
Well for those who have managed to join Inbox’s ranks, it now seems that Google have added Inbox to the Chrome store as a Chrome extension. At present the extension once installed does not do that much and seems to only be workable as a bookmark or quick way to jump to inbox on your desktop. The Chrome add-on does not have any other specific functionality other than being a quick-launch tool, but that said at least it does add the new Inbox logo to your current Google launcher. Whether you have been invited or not if you do want to download the new Inbox Chrome add-on then you can by clicking here and heading over to the Chrome Store.
