At long last, the wait is over. HTC and Google have made the Nexus 9 official. The new Google Nexus 9 tablet comes with a 8.9-inch IPS LCD screen of 4:3 aspect ratio and featuring 2,048 by 1,536 pixels and is powered by what Google are calling a 64-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 processor with 2 GB of RAM, which I believe is a dual core model (unless Nvidia have an unannounced quad core 64-bit K1!). You can have the tablet in one of three colours, Indigo Black, Lunar White, Sand, in either 16 GB or 32 GB capacity, with or without LTE. Whilst we await the finer points of the specification, radio and color combinations, we can also take a look at some of the cases that are already popping up on various websites such as Amazon and of course, Google.
I’ve used a wireless keyboard with my tablet since my Dell Streak and I’ve found the combination of slate without keyboard to be great for consuming media, but when I need to be productive, combining the tablet with a keyboard is a great way to get work done. Google and HTC are seeing fit to sell a new keyboard folio case that magnetically attaches to the Nexus 9. It’ll fold at two different angles and appears to be sturdy enough to rest securely on your lap. The keyboard appears to take cues from the Chromebook keyboard, featuring a search key but we’ve also spotted a pair of dedicated emoticon icons, perhaps an interesting feature for an accessory that’s purported to be for getting work done. We’ve no word if there will be UK or European style keyboards available, nor on costs or even how the keyboard connects to the tablet. We would assume that it uses Bluetooth and has a rechargeable battery with MicroUSB port, but it must be around the other side of the image. We also don’t know colors, availability or pricing, although Google’s own accessories tend to be expensive.
