Music streaming is big business these days. Gone is the time when you would have to go down to your local record store, queue with all the other folk and buy the latest song from your favourite artist. You can still kind of do this although who buys music anymore? Online music purchases are so 2011. Nowadays the thing is streaming. With companies like Spotify and Google’s Play Music offering you all the music you can eat for one monthly drip payment. Some argue the quality of the audio from streaming companies has dropped since the days of physical music. If you are one of them then you should note only this morning we reported on a new app by Tidal which offers users High Fidelity quality music and again all you can eat for a small (slightly larger tough than Spotify and Google) monthly fee.
If all that is not enough then you should think about checking out Hype Machine’s app. F0r those unfamiliar with Hype Machine this is a website which brings together all the popular music into one streamlined and digestible manner. Hype Machine scans music blogs and other sites looking for what songs and albums are trending online and if they are buzzing then they will make the list so to speak. With Hype Machine you can literally stay on top of what’s hot without the need to read through and subscribe to all the blogs yourself.
The new app from Hype Machine works in exactly the same way but obviously in app form. In addition, the app allows you to stream the music directly from within the app. This seems to be a great little tool to monitor music trends, see what your friends are listening to and find new music. Although the app allows you to stream, it is worth noting that it doesn’t work like the other big streamers and you cannot download anything for offline use. However by the same token the app doesn’t require any monthly payments and instead will only set you back the app cost which is currently $3.99. Feel like giving it a go? Then head over to the Play Store. Let us know what you think?
