Lenovo is one of the biggest tech companies in China. Smartphone business isn’t exactly Lenovo’s main priority, but this tech giant is definitely trying to leave its mark on the market. The company has a number of mid-range devices which are available for purchase in China and worldwide, depending on the model of course. Lenovo A806 is a good example, a smartphone we’ve reported on quite recently, a solid mid-range device which is available through a retailer. Lenovo keeps on pushing smartphones and today we have a new one that popped up in China.
Lenovo A936 paid a visit to TENAA (China’s equivalent of the FCC) and revealed its looks and part of its specifications. This phablet features a 6-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display along with 1GB of RAM for your multitasking needs and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD up to 32GB). The listing doesn’t reveal the processor this device will feature, it does however say it will feature 8 cores and 1.7GHz frequency, I’m quite certain we’ll see a MediaTek chip included here. 5-megapixel is located at the back of this device while there’s a 1.3-megapixel shooter up front. Android 4.4.4 KitKat will come pre-installed on this device with Lenovo’s Vibe UI on top of it, of course. This handset measures 163.9 — 83.6 — 8.7mm and weighs 190 grams. It will be available in black, white and silver colors according to this listing. 4G connectivity won’t be supported here, which is to be expected.
As you can see from its specifications, this will be a mid-range device, some might even say low-mid range actually. Lenovo will surely launch this in China first and then perhaps all over Asia, but I’ll doubt we’ll see it launch anywhere else, at least not for a while. Price is unknown at this point, but Lenovo will have to price it rather low if they want to sell it considering the competition is really fierce in China. You can get a flagship, t0p-notch device for approximately 2000 Yuan over there, so I guess this device should be priced significantly below the 1000 Yuan mark if Lenovo wants anyone to even consider getting this thing. Anyhow, we’ll let you know if we get any more details regarding this smartphone.
