Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Launches In India In Android And Windows 8.1 Flavours

Lenovo’s been more than just successful with it’s Yoga line of tablet/laptop hybrids, with professionals from around the world fancying the then-unique form factor. The China-based OEM announced the Yoga Tablet 2 in 8-inch and 10.1-inch avatars only a week back, and it’s put up the devices on sale in the Indian market today.

Both, the 8-inch and the 10.1-inch variants come with a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels), along with 10-point multi-touch panels. Naturally, the smaller, i.e., the 8-inch version will have a higher pixel density thanks to the same resolution being packed in smaller space. On the other hand, the 10.1-inch version of the Yoga Tablet 2 will suit those that tend to use a lot of apps at once. Besides the identical display resolution, another thing that’s common to both devices is the processor — it’s the 1.8 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3745 processor that powers both devices. Lenovo’s apparently looking to step up on the shutterbug game, and for that, has included an 8 MP main cameras on both version of the Yoga Tablet 2. The 8 MP sensor will have an aperture of f/2.2, and will be aided by BSI which should result in a little above-par photography. Both tablets have a 1.6 MP HD-capable front cameras.

Dual-band WiFi (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) is a feature more and more tablet and TV box manufacturers are looking to include, which is the case here as well. Besides that, the Yoga Tablet 2 models will have 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16 GB of expandable storage. The 8-inch version will have a 6400 mAh battery, whereas the larger, 10.1-inch model will have a massive 9600 mAh one. The 10.1-inch version will also get a Bluetooth powered keyboard dock, while there’s no such mention for the 8.1-inch variant.

Interestingly, Lenovo’s offering the Yoga Tablet 2 in Android and Windows 8.1 flavours. However, pricing details about the 8-inch Windows 8.1 powered version are yet to surface. The Android version (8-inch), though, will cost 20,990 INR (US$340), while the Android and Windows 8.1 versions of the 10.1-inch Yoga Tablet 2 will set buyers in India back by 28,990 INR (US$470) and 34,990 INR (US$566) respectively. Like a lot of other new launches, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 series will be available exclusively via Flipkart starting tomorrow, i.e., 17th October.
