Meizu held a conference in Beijing a few days ago on which the company announced partnership with Alibaba. Alibaba’s YunOS will become a part of Meizu’s Flyme OS, well, part of YunOS will anyway. These two companies have announced that some security and cloud features from YunOS will come to Flyme, though we’ll probably see plenty more features alongside those. Meizu also announced 2 new version of their extremely successful, Meizu MX4 smartphone. MX4 Gold and MX4 Silverwing version were announced by the company on said conference. Both of these device have the same specifications as the original Meizu MX4 and sport a solid aluminum frame build. The Gold version is just a gold-colored MX4 while the Silverwing version comes with the silver frame and with a glossy back cover, unlike the mat one on the original MX4. I’m not particularly fond of that back cover, but I guess there are people who like it.
Anyhow, both of these version are available for pre-order from Meizu in China (source link below). If you decide to get one, you’ll have to splash out 1799 Yuan ($294), which is the same price you’d pay for the original Meizu MX4. Neither of these handsets are available internationally just yet, but Meizu said they will be in the future. As you can see, the device looks great, other than the back cover which I personally don’t like. Though that is not saying much considering this is more or less the original MX4. Still, if you liked the original MX4, but you wanted a different color of the device or something, this might be just the device for you. There are a bunch of images down below, check it out.
Meizu will introduce yet another device in November, it has been confirmed. Meizu MX4 Pro will finally see the light of day and according to the rumors, it will be a true beast and will be affordable. This handset will reportedly sport a 5.4-inch 2K display (quite probably made by Sharp), 3GB of RAM and Samsung’s Exynos 5430 octa-core processor. The same 20.7-megapixel sensor that was used in MX4 will probably make its way to MX4 Pro as well. If you like the MX4, but you’re still not sure whether to get one or not, you might want to wait for the MX4 Pro and see what Meizu has to offer.
