A new Motorola device has hit the FCC recently. I know everyone’s thinking “ZOMG THAT’S THE NEXUS 6”. Just wait. I don’t think it is the Nexus 6 based on the dimensions of the device here. The dimensions here seem to fit the DROID Turbo – however the bands are not Verizon bands – and the DROID Turbo is supposedly a 5.5-inch device. While the Nexus 6 is a 5.9-inch and there was a rumor of a 5.2-inch one as well. Which would put this right in the middle. This one appears to be headed to AT&T, at least according to the bands it supports. Which would lead us to believe it’s a rebranded DROID Turbo. Now there was the “Moto Maxx” name that has popped up a few times over the past few months. And this could definitely be that. Engadget seems to think it’s the Nexus 6 though. It could be, but something just doesn’t add up for it to be a Nexus 6.
As far as the bands go, we’ve got LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 17 and GSM bands of 850, 1700, and 1900. Which looks like an AT&T phone that’s not global-ready. Which also tells us that it’s probably not a Nexus (thanks to Droid Life for pointing that out). As Google usually puts as many bands in as possible so that you can use your Nexus in the US, Europe, or just about anywhere. So that they don’t need to have several variants of the Nexus.
So this appears to be a third Motorola smartphone coming soon. As it’s not the right bands for Verizon, and not enough for a Nexus. So could we be looking at the DROID Turbo on Verizon, Moto Maxx on AT&T and the Nexus 6 this fall? Things are definitely getting exciting around here. Make sure you keep it locked here to find out.
