We have a Motorola DROID Turbo! Ask Us Anything!

Today, we were live at Motorola and Verizon’s event in New York City. They sent us home with a review unit. So that means it’s question time! We’ve been hearing a lot of people asking about the Motorola DROID Turbo leading up to the event, so I figure most of you probably still have questions. So head to the comments below and let’s get some conversations going.

I’m going to try and answer some questions here before we get started. Specs on this beast include a 5.2-inch 2560×1440 resolution AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset clocked at 2.7GHz, with the Adreno 420 GPU. It also has 3GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of storage – our review unit is the 32GB Black Kevlar unit – along with a 21MP camera on the back and a 2MP front-facing camera. All this is powered by a 3900mAh battery inside. On the software side, we’re looking at Android 4.4.4. We were kind of hoping for Lollipop, but didn’t really expect it, as the code isn’t yet available.

As far as the look and feel go, I’m still not excited about the capacitive buttons there. But they aren’t as bad as I thought they’d be. They almost feel like softkeys, but not quite. The kevlar back feels amazing in hand – by that matter so does the ballistic nylon which I got some hands on time at the event today. It’s a really nice looking device, and one I wouldn’t mind picking up. So now onto the burning question. The battery. How well does it perform? Well as I always say it’s hard to tell after a few hours. But I have spent a few hours with the DROID Turbo walking around Manhattan this afternoon. Right now I’m looking at a little over 2.5 hours on screen time with 58% left. And that was after taking a ton of pictures, using it on Auto-brightness (I was outside, so it was pretty bright) and 4G LTE the entire time. So You should be able to squeeze out 6 hours on auto-brightness and LTE easily. And probably close to 10 hours on WiFi. But don’t quote me on the WiFi, as I haven’t used it on WiFi yet.

With that said, if you have any questions at all, head to the comments below, and we’ll answer them! DROID Turbo goes on Sale on Thursday, October 30th.
