I know some of you use Pushbullet and swear by it. There are a lot of cool things you can do with the service, especially with the recent channels update that the Pushbullet team has pushed out (get it?). This dev team is on point because today they announced a massive Material Design overhaul to the app as well as a couple of new features that have been requested for a while. The Material Design update is not just on the surface, either. Pushbullet is Material Design to the core now, with the new animations, icons, toggles, and floating action button all integrated properly.
The Pushbullet team is really excited about Material Design. They wrote on the blog, Being huge fans of great design, we were relieved to have such a comprehensive update to Android, and we did not waste a second bringing as many great things from Material as possible to you.” The list of stuff that is new in this Pushbullet update is short but it’s good: “New navigation drawer with quick access to channels, settings, and more. Notification mirroring toggle in navigation drawer. Filter pushes by device, contact, or channel. Filter pushes with search term. Reorganized settings. Send pushes from floating pop-over window. Material all the things.”
The new filtering options are something that users have requested on a regular basis. You can now filter your pushes by which device they are coming from, as well as by contact and even search using the new filter system. All of the new Material Design stuff won’t be available unless you’re running Android 5.0 Lollipop, but you’ll get some of the visuals in earlier versions of Android. It’s great to know that Pushbullet is ready for anything that Google throws at us. Heck, they got this update out before Lollipop is available to most of us. Great work.
