With so much news coming at you in one day it can sometimes get a little confusing with information seeming to cross over and lacking clarity. This has certainly been the case today with an almost continuous stream of information about the new twin Nexus devices, their availability and pricing. With that in mind its time for a quick recap to go over the availability and probably pricing for the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 for the US and Canadian markets as we currently know it.
By now you should be aware that the Nexus 6 is a smartphone. Its manufactured by Motorola, is 5.9″ in size with a QHD AMOLED screen (1440 x 2560 resolution and 493 ppi). Inside the device comes with 3GB RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor (clocks at 2.7GHz). On the back you get a 13MP camera while on the front there is a 2MP camera. The device will be available in a 32 or 64GB variants and will be powered using a 3220 mAh battery. Of course, the device will come running on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). In terms of when and how much the Nexus 6 will be available for pre-order October 29th before going on proper sale early November. The 32GB version will cost a cool $749.99 while the 64GB should be somewhere near the $800 mark. Unfortunately for Canada details are very sketchy with only TELUS noting that they will be selling the Nexus 6 sometime “later this year”.
As for the Nexus 9. Well again you should know by now that this is a tablet and manufactured by HTC. The Nexus 9 offers an 8.9″ IPS LCD display with 2048 x 1536 resolution. Inside the device comes with 2GB RAM and an Nvidia Tegra K1 64-bit Dual-Core processor (clocks at 2.3GHz). The device also offers an 8MP rear camera and a 1.6MP front shooter. The Nexus 9 will be available in 16 and 32GB variants although it is expected that only the 32GB version will be available on LTE. Lastly, the device will be powered by a 6,700mAh batter and again will come running on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). In terms of the when and where the Nexus 9 will be available to pre-order before the Nexus 6 with the expected date being October 17th (this Friday). The device is expected to go on general sale on November 3rd although currently pricing is not really known. For Canada, details are again sketchy although for TELUS and Rogers the Nexus 9 is expected to land in late November. It is also being reported the Nexus 9 will be available from Future Shop and Best Buy although in terms of when this is simply being referred to as ‘soon’. So there you go. As the first day starts to draw to a close these are the details as we currently have them. Over the next few hours and days more clarity will come in terms of pricing and availability so stay tuned.
