Camera and video shots are two of the most talked about specifications on a new device – and when Apple and Samsung are involved, there will always be a hot debate over which device is better. With the new iPhone now being put through its paces, many critics have crowned it the new photo and video champion…as they always do. Now that the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is getting ready to hit the streets, comparisons are inevitable. From the video that Unbox Therapy has posted on YouTube, the Note 4’s 4K video may actually be the camera to beat…take a look below (make sure you watch it in 4K) at their untouched video and let us know what you think.
The new Galaxy Note 4 camera is a 16-megapixel design with Samsung’s ISOCELL technology to give better low-light shots, along with auto focus and new this year, Smart Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It also packs a LED Flash, eight-times digital zoom and Samsung’s own version of HDR Image Compositing.
Watching the video it is smooth and it offers up realistic colors – it does seems as though you are actually there looking around…many shots were taken on very cloudy and dreary looking days, yet the images are still quite detailed and life-like. The contrasts are great and the colors are not over saturated. Movements are smooth and natural, with no jittering on any portions that I could see.
It will be exciting to see the still pictures this new camera can take – Samsung increased the megapixels from 13 up to 16, however, the biggest advancement is finally including OIS for more stable shots and faster focus and processing time. I always got good shots from my Note 3, but you had to ‘work’ in order to get them – you should be able to point-and-shoot and get a good photo…that is one thing the iPhone has always been great at.
Another nice feature on the Note 4 to go along with the great photos and video is the display that you watch them on – the 5.7-inch Quad HD (QHD) Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 518 pixels-per-inch (PPI). The colors and clarity are absolutely stunning and it was picked by DisplayMate, Inc. as the “best display they have ever tested.”
