Sonim's XP7 Rugged LTE Android Smartphone Available on Bell and TELUS

Sonim’s first two Android 4.4 LTE ultra-rugged smartphones will launch in Canada – the XP7 will debut October 20 on Bell and TELUS and later in November there will be the XP6 model, which will feature a “numeric keypad in addition to a touch screen providing the best choice for workers familiar with Private Mobile Radio (PMR) devices,” will debut on TELUS.  Sonim Technologies provides ultra-rugged mobile phones, as well as a suite of industrial-grade accessories and business process applications designed with one objective – to increase worker productivity and safety at the job site.  Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim Technologies say:

Underneath the rugged exterior of the Sonim XP7 beats the heart of an Android smartphone.  It comes with a 4-inch LCD display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels covered by tough Gorilla Glass 2 with a glove and wet finger friendly screen.  It utilizes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.  For pictures, the XP7 uses an 8MP main camera and a 1MP front-facing camera.  It can withstand water up to 2 meters for 90 minutes with dust and shock proofing, oil slick protection and more…it can even withstand being run over by a truck!  It has a powerful battery for up to 40 hours of talk-time and an extra loud speaker and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat.  The device will be sold through the the companies business channels and no pricing was given.
