Along with the announcement of the DROID Turbo today. Verizon also informed us that they will keep selling the DROID Mini and Maxx which they introduced last year. They also told us that the DROID Maxx from last year, still has the best battery life out of all the flagships out there. And that’s pretty remarkable when you think about it. So alongside the DROID Turbo selling for $199 and $249, the DROID Lineup will be sitting at 3 distinctly different devices. With the DROID Mini going free on Contract, and the DROID Maxx at $49 on contract. While the DROID Maxx is a year old device, it’s still a great one to have. As I would say “dat battery life”, is a good reason to pick it up.
The DROID Maxx has a 3500mAh battery with a 5-inch 720p AMOLED display. It’s also sporting the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with Motorola’s X8 architecture. Not to mention the 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. When we reviewed it last year, the DROID Maxx consistently lasted about 2 full days for us, and that was while testing it on LTE. So it’s definitely going to get you through the day.
Now if you’re someone that has to have the latest and greatest of everything, you probably won’t want the DROID Maxx from last year. As this year’s DROID Turbo is a huge upgrade, I really mean huge. I mean it’s got a QHD display which gives you 565 ppi. It’s also got the Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 3900mAh battery.
So now we have a DROID at a bunch of price points, with Verizon only announcing one. Which is nice to see. You can now get the DROID Mini at $0, the DROID Maxx at $49, the 32GB DROID Turbo at $199 and the 64GB DROID Turbo at $249. A really stellar lineup there from Verizon.
