What is one thing that concerns all owners and daily users of Android Wear? Battery life. It makes us all worry and run to chargers and outlets at some point in the day, but only in the case that you know the battery level is dropping to that uncomfortably low level. Android Wear has many features and tricks, but somehow Google decided to forget or ignore the possibility that some of the users would like to know battery.
And that battery is important to many people, both owners and people that might not buy because of it. So let me introduce and app called Wear Battery. What it does is sync the battery information to your device using the Wear Battery app. That’s all. Nothing fancy or super complicated, just gives a graph of battery percentage across up to the last 24 hours. As of now, the 24 limit is under scrutiny by both users and the developer, the latter of which is looking to improve the app since it is still in alpha. The graph is clean and black with white time and percentage markers along the axes, and a cyan blue line to show the actual percentage. And, for those concerned about more apps that continually sync to the phone, Wear Battery only syncs the battery information to the device when the app is opened. It’s good to know that a battery app isn’t the thing that will kill your Android Wear even faster.
As I mentioned, it’s still in the alpha stages, so there will be bugs and things that break or are broken. But in the coming versions, the developer shares that the extension of displayable time will increase past 24 hours. Also in the future of Wear Battery is an incorporation of charging information into the graph, instead of just use. The last thing to look forward to is the power consumption of the screen on the graph as well. With that list of things, however simple, it’s a good bet that if Wear Battery Monitor gets more exposure, it could be an absolute hit and get popular with every Android Wear user. If you have an Android Wear device, pick this one up (it’s free) and give it a try. If you’ve used it, how did it go for you? Let us know down below.
