We’ve been talking about ZTE recently. The company has hyped its V5 smartphone prior to launch and has finally held the conference and launched the device, actually they launched two of them. First of all, I’ve expected a high-end device(s) and ZTE didn’t exactly deliver when it comes to that though I’m still kind of surprised by the specifications of these handsets. This Chinese manufacturer has held a conference in Beijing and announced ZTE V5 Max and ZTE V5S devices. V5 Max is priced at 999 Yuan while the V5S carries the 899 Yuan price tag. Both of these devices actually resemble ZTE’s Nubia line, which is not that odd considering the same designers were working on these devices. Anyhow, let’s check out the specs of these guys.
ZTE V5 Max is the higher-end device here, though not by much. V5 Max features a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card up to 32GB). This device also comes with 3100mAh battery which is removable. V5S on the other hand sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (also expandable I believe). This handset has a somewhat lower battery capacity, 2400mAh. The remaining specifications are more or less the same (aside from the size and weight of course). Both of these devices are powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor which comes with an Adreno 306 GPU for graphics processing. 13-megapixel F/2.2 aperture camera is located on both of these devices as well as a 5-megapixel shooter which is located on the front of them. Both of these handsets have dual-SIM and 4G support, they support China Unicom, China Telecom and China Mobile bands. Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed on both of them with ZTE’s Nubia 2.5 UI on top of it. As far as software goes, both devices sport a one-handed mode, palm lock feature, multi-screen, etc. ZTE packed plenty of features in Nubia 2.5 UI. Both devices will be available in red, blue, yellow and green colors with ZTE offering some official accessories with these devices as well.
For those of you who live in China, you’ll be able to get these devices (quite probably pre-order them) on November 24th from Jingdong Mall and ZTE’s official website, though I believe other retailers will carry them as well. I actually expected ZTE to announce higher-end device(s), as I already said, so this surprised me to some extent. V5 Max could be a solid device for some people though, V5S is definitely not the 100 Yuan difference considering you get 2GB of RAM if you get the V5 Max. Your thoughts?
