ZTE is constantly releasing low and mid-range devices, but everyone is expecting this company to release something top-notch, high-end in order to compete with other Chinese manufacturers which already have such devices on the market. ZTE of course doesn’t have to do that and we all know that they primarily manufacture low and mid-range devices, but these upcoming V5 flagship device could boast some impressive specs and software features. ZTE’s senior VP confirmed that this device will be released in October and now we know that will happen this Thursday, October 23rd. ZTE shared some more information about the device itself, mostly about its camera. ZTE promised that V5 will have a really powerful camera which will rival the likes of the best smartphone cameras out at the moment. There are rumors that V5 will sport a Neovision professional camera interface and that it will boast a 13-megapixel sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), at least that’s what the press materials have told us recently.
Interesting enough, those materials also mentioned “Android L” (Lollipop). Google announced Android Lollipop quite recently and it’s basically impossible ZTE will announce Android Lollipop-powered devices before Google even starts selling their first Lollipop-powered Nexus devices. There’s of course a chance that “Android L” addition meant that this device will receive Android Lollipop at some point if that’s the case, shame on you ZTE. Anyhow, there’s no way we can say for sure what ZTE meant by that, but I guess we’ll find out soon. You could also see the device itself in one of those images, it actually resembles Nokia’s Lumia devices. ZTE will probably also introduce the NBA edition of said V5 smartphone considering they’re partnering with Houston Rockets once again, that’s just my guess though, the company might hold a separate event for that.
ZTE never really impressed me with one of their devices, so I’m hoping the company will find a way to do that now. I’m quite curious to see what will they offer on Thursday and even more curious to see what was all that “Android L” nonsense all about. Do you think ZTE can actually unveil something high-end, affordable and extremely competitive?
