Photo storage has become a big thing in the past couple of years, particularly as smart phone camera sensors have improved. A couple years ago Google announced free unlimited photo storage through their Google+ service, complete with auto backup so that you never lose another photo again in case of some kind of disaster with your phone or computer. The biggest drawback with Google’s service, and many others out there, is that the unlimited portion is only for photos of a specific size, about 3 megapixels, which makes most of the photos useless for anything outside of social network usage or a wallet sized print. You can pay for more space for the full sized photos but who wants to pay for anything in this age of free, ad-supported content?
Sometimes paying for services is worthwhile though, or at least that’s what Amazon wants you to think, as they continue to add to their Prime services for users. Amazon’s latest addition to Prime services now includes Prime Photos, a platform that launched a little while ago but only included unlimited photo storage for customers with the Amazon Fire Phone. Now Amazon is unlocking this for all Prime users and supports not just unlimited photo backup but backup at full size and even includes those jumbo RAW photos you might have started shooting lately if you’ve got a OnePlus One or a phone running Android 5.0 Lollipop like the Nexus 5. This adds to the already growing list of services Amazon offers its Prime customers including streaming video, music and of course free 2-day shipping.
