Amazon wants to sell you its merchandise all year long, but with the holidays soon upon us, the push is greater than ever. To make it even more attractive to purchase from Amazon in Canada, they are starting their Same-Day Delivery service for Toronto and Vancouver residences. They are successfully doing this in several major cities in the U.S. over the past year and it was only a matter of time before our Canadian brethren got a little Amazon loving…it is just a shame that only two cities will be included for holiday shopping this year. With Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery, if you place your order by noon, you will receive it by 9:00 PM that same day – seven days a week! Alexandre Gagnon, country manager for Amazon.ca. said:
“We’re constantly working to speed up delivery times and introduce new services that make our customers’ lives easier. With Same-Day Delivery, customers in Toronto and Vancouver can conveniently take care of errands or complete holiday shopping in a day with just a few clicks, receive orders seven days a week and have what they need delivered to their home in a matter of hours.”
The downside is that not all items are available for Same-Day Delivery and there is a fee, of course – Amazon Prime members pay a flat fee of $6.99 per order, no matter how many items you order. Non-Prime members pay a fee of $11.99 “per shipment” and $1.99 “per item” fee, so if you are a big Amazon shopper, live in these areas and want to take advantage of Same-Day Delivery, then you might be wise to sign up for their Amazon Prime deal for CDN$79 per year. Of the items that are available for delivery, Amazon says there are “hundreds of thousands of eligible items in Vancouver” and “more than one million eligible items in Toronto” – so no matter where you live, you do have a sizable selection of merchandise to choose from for Same-Day Delivery.
The service will allow you to easily shop for your Holiday gifts in a day – online, without fighting the crowds…although many customers like the ‘hustle and bustle,’ but not me…the only thing I like crowded are my fingers on a keyboard. You can buy the latest movies or video games, gaming consoles and accessories. Every day household items are available – even laundry detergent and dish soap – or stock up your pantry with snacks and drinks. Accessories for hooking up your electronics and speakers are all available and even last minute travel items – toothpaste, shaving cream and even sun-block. There is something for everybody on Amazon.
