Android 5.0 Lollipop to Hit the Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 From November 12th

Nexus owners everywhere have probably been going crazy waiting for the OTA update to Android 5.0 Lollipop to hit their devices, especially now as the source code has been pushed to the AOSP. While Lollipop Factory Images have now appeared for the Nexus Player as well as the Nexus 9, there’s nothing yet for the Nexus 4, the Nexus 5, the Nexus 7 or the Nexus 10. That might be because Google is working on ironing out a few more bugs in order to make sure that older Nexus devices are assured a quality experience with as few bugs as possible. It looks like the date that these updates will start rolling out is going to be November 12th.

We had previously heard from Google that WiFi devices would get the update on November 3rd, with cellular devices waiting a little longer till the 12th. Now, it looks like everything is going to be updated starting November 12th. Hopefully, that means that Factory Images will be available at the same time, as an OTA update for two years’ worth of Nexus devices is bound to take some time to reach everyone. Besides, a fresh start with a completely new build of Android could do a lot of people good, we imagine.

It’s clear that Google’s Android team is pretty busy this week, and we’re sure that they’ll continue to work on any bugs that appear on the Nexus 4, the 5, 7 and other devices as a result of this latest update. Lollipop is a release that’s deserving of its version 5.0 moniker, and big updates like these take time to make just right. Googlers will have no doubt been dogfooding and testing the updates and Android 5.0 on their own devices for some time now, and with another week of bug testing and tightening of bolts, we should have some pretty solid updates rolling out soon.
