APK Download: Google Keyboard v4.0.2 featuring Material Design Themes

Later today, the flood gates will open up and you’ll see what I mean in a little bit. But to hold you over until then, the Google Keyboard with material design light and dark themes have surfaced, and is available for download. This update brings you the themes you’ve seen in Android 5.0 Lollipop, as well as some overall enhancements to the keyboard. It’s the same keyboard found on any device running Android 5.0 Lollipop. I’ve been using the keyboard on the Nexus 6 for a few weeks and its’ pretty damn good. I usually stick with SwiftKey, but for the purpose of reviewing Android 5.0 and the Nexus 6, I stuck it out with the Google Keyboard and it did pretty well for me. There were still a few things I had to get used too though. But otherwise it was really great.

So we’ve got material light and dark, which you can change in the settings on your device. You also still have the holo themes if you are really missing some holo-ness on your smartphone or tablet. The update should be available on the Google Play Store fairly soon, we should hope, but in the meantime, you can get your download on down below.

Remember that we are not responsible for any damage caused to your device. And to install the APK, simply download the APK from the link below. Then check Unknown Sources from (Settings > Security). Now you’ll want to tap on the APK to open it up, tap on install, and it should replace your current Google keyboard automatically. Now if you have been using another keyboard, like SwiftKey for example, then you’ll need to change it so the Google Keyboard is your default keyboard. This can be done in Settings and tap on Language & Keyboards. It’s just that simple.
