If you are into strategy and turn-based RPG’s then you might very well have already heard of The Banner Saga. This was previously available as a PC title via Steam and as such already built up quite a bit of a following. Well, it now seems the title has finally landed on Android too. We have been waiting for this one to land for sometime and previously did a heads-up on its incoming arrival back at the end of June in our Weekly games roundup by Justin. So those who follow the weekly games news will already know about this one.
For those who don’t, then The Banner Saga is a rather epic tale. Its an RPG based game but with a Nordic twist. The title characters are on their cross-country/world journey in which they have to fight and put up with both the bleak and treacherous environment, as well as monsters hiding around every corner. What makes this game rather special compared to the others, is the use of artwork which is seriously excellent. Imagery is hand painted and as such the plush colours and animation is second-to-none. For those that like games with a decent amount of story in-between scenes, then you should check this out. The animation combined with the story does result in a rather sweet experience. In fact, the story plays quite a significant role compared to other strategy based games and you will feel yourself waiting for that next cut-scene chapter.
Of course, great artwork and a solid story doesn’t come cheap on any platform. And android is no different. The Banner Saga is not a cheap game and is currently up for a steep $9.99. To add to this, with quality comes size. And like its price, The Banner Saga is a biggie with a download size of 1.6GB. So if you got some spare cash and memory and looking for a solid story and great animations, then you might want to give this one a go. If you do then click here to head over to the Play Store listing. If you want a quick peek at what you are in for, before purchasing. Then give the video below a quick watch.
