Back at IFA in September Samsung introduced us to a number of devices. One of these newbies was the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active. Now unlike the rest of the Samsung offerings being touted, the Galaxy Tab Active was not being pushed as a top of the range device. This was not meant as a showpiece, but instead is geared more towards the business and enterprise sector. As a result, the Tab Active does not come loaded with all the usual high end specs we normally hear when meeting a new device. If you do want to know then the Tab Active comes with an 8″ display with a 1280 x 800 resolution. Inside, the Tab Active comes with 1.5GB RAM, and a 1.2 Quad-core processor. Additional features include 16GB internal storage, a 3.1MP rear camera, 1.2MP front shooter and a 4,450mAh battery. So all in all nothing to be too excited about.
That said, as this is aimed towards the business and enterprise sector (and not forgetting it comes with an ‘Active’ tag in the name) this device is highly durable. In fact, the Tab Active is meant to be used in the more treacherous or adventurous workplaces and not simply as an additional YouTube screen on your office desk. As such the more unique features of the device include being dust and water resistant and can withstand drops from as high as 1.2 metres. To try and further push the on-the-job function of the Galaxy Tab, Samsung have released a few more videos.
We have come to learn that Samsung does love making videos and although the Galaxy Tab Active is not the most photogenic device out there that doesn’t stop Samsung rolling the camera. However, the newer videos do not contain any comical aspects and certainly no Apple put-downs. Instead, the new videos highlight the functional role the Galaxy Tab Active can play in the workplace. In particular Samsung have focused on how the Tab Active could be of use to the Police and Healthcare industries. Not to mention, Samsung also seems keen to promote its use for the private sector with two more videos highlighting its use in the Construction and Logistics industries as well. If you are interested, then (as always) the videos are shown below for your viewing pleasure. There are four videos in total so make sure you scroll all the way down. If you are interesting in getting the Tab Active then pre-orders for the US opened last month and the device has now begun shipping.
