Google Gives Mobile Search The Ability To Display Labels Of Mobile Friendly Pages

If there’s one thing that can be said about having all this technology in our hands these days, it’s that not every website has been updated to better accommodate the way we now browse the internet. In fact, there are a great many websites that still haven’t implemented mobile friendly versions, despite the fact that browsing from our smartphones is fast becoming the main way we hop online to surf. Google has introduced a new feature of their mobile search platform now, that alerts the user as to which websites are mobile friendly. They do this with a simple “mobile friendly” label next to a page that is equipped with a mobile version of their site, so you know which ones will probably be a more enjoyable experience.

While it can’t always be helped as to where you browse,(sometimes the things you’re looking for come from only one place and if they don’t have a mobile version of the page, you’re stuck with it)many times there are various web pages to find specific pieces of information and Google sets you up to now choose the best possible experience to get a hold of that information. If you browse for recipes on how to make the best chicken enchiladas on your phone, mobile search can now tell you which sites in the listings results are mobile friendly and thus make your experience better.

Google has set up tech to automatically detect whether a site is worthy of the mobile friendly tag, which includes requirements like, “uses text that’s readable without zooming,” “Avoids software that is not common on mobile devices, like Flash,” and a few other key pieces which state that sites must place links far enough apart so that the correct one can be tapped, and that content on screen must be sized so that users don’t have to scroll horizontally or vertically. Now that this feature is officially available for everyone, it should be much easier to sniff out the sites we want to browse and those we don’t. What do you think about these new labels in mobile search? Will it help you at all?
