Google Posts the Android 5.0 Lollipop Factory Image (LRX21L) for the Nexus 9

We’re still waiting for the Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and other older Nexus factory images for Android 5.0 Lollipop. And Google is playing with our emotions. By posting the factory image for the Nexus 9. The factory image is Android 5.0, build LRX21L. This is the same version of Lollipop that we have on our Nexus 9 review unit. So it is final software, at least until Android 5.0.1 comes out in a few weeks. We still don’t know exactly when we are going to see the OTA’s going out for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2012, Nexus 7 2013, and the Nexus 10. But from what we’ve heard it sounds like they were pushed back til November 12th due to some bugs that were found and are being fixed. Originally that’s when the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2012 HSPA+ and Nexus 7 2013 LTE were going to get their updates. And now it looks like everyone will be getting their update then. So patience, my friend.

Anyway, if you picked up a Nexus 9 yesterday or today, we now have factory images available for you to flash if you so desire. Here’s how to flash that factory image:

  1. Download the complete Android 5.0 factory image zip from here.
    – save the file on your computer.
  2. Extract the zip contents to your computer.
  3. Copy all the extracted files and past them in the SDK/ Platform-tools folder.
  4. Now, you will need to open a Command Prompt window in the Platform-tools folder.
  5. Enter the following command line to flash the new Android5.0 Lollipop:
    – flash-all.bat
    – press Enter and wait for the installation to complete.
  6. The installation of Android 5.0 Lollipop takes several minutes to complete, so you shouldn’t press any buttons until every file is flashed successfully.
  7. When the install is complete, your phone will reboot in normal mode and then you can close Command Prompt and disconnect it from your computer.
  8. Enter your Google Account details to take control over your Nexus 9 and Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

That’s just how easy it is to flash it.Don’t worry it’ll get easier the more times you do it. For seasoned Nexus users, we know these commands by heart.
