Google Posts Developer Changelog for Lollipop Build LRX21M

While we are still waiting on the OTA’s to start rolling out for various older Nexus devices, it seems we are getting closer and closer to the OTA’s beginning to roll out. The code for Lollipop has already begun uploading to AOSP, and now we have our changelog from Android 4.4.4 KitKat to Android 5.0.0_r2 Lollipop. The Android team has been saying all summer that this update is the biggest update in the history of Android. And looking at the number of commits –  128,680 – it definitely blows away all other versions of Android. According to the Google Group for Android Building, android-5.0.0_r1 tag (LRX21L) is for theNexus 9, and android-5.0.0_r2 (LRX21M) is for the Nexus Player. So far there’s no tag for any of the other Nexus devices. But those should be uploaded pretty soon.

You probably saw that code was going into AOSP last night. Well it was. But it’s not merged in with the master branch yet. Google was developing Lollipop on a forked version, that way the team could also work out bugs in KitKat in the meantime. So once they are merged in the next few days, we should see an even newer changelog from Al Sutton, who is part of the AOSP Team. The Changelog is available now in HTML format. the File is actually about 20mb in size, so it’s quite large. And most of us won’t know what the most of these changes mean. But if you’re a developer, you’ll likely understand it a bit more. So check out the source link below to see what’s new in Android Lollipop. You might even find some jokes in the changelog.

How many of you are still anxiously awaiting the Lollipop OTA on your Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2012 and 2013, Nexus 10 or Nexus 4? Be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
