One of the biggest hurdles to overcome when a new device, a new forum or form factor of media that is, gets released, the software engineers must adapt apps and services to fill the needs, desires, and expectations of consumers and especially owners of the new device. Such is the story of Android TV. The Google Search app is now relevant, and you’ll see why. The Search app now exists in a form that is specifically tailored to the Android TV experience and needs, like using voice to find that special movie or your favorite episode. And yes, even that viral video from last week that you refused to watch around your friends. Now, the app isn’t just the same as it is on other systems.
The Search app has also made navigating through your library of entertainment options easier. You can use it to search for actors, shows, years, as well as your other apps and any fact or tidbit from the Internet that comes to mind mid-film. The app will also allow you to search through your music to find just the right jam for that party. Here’s some interesting thought now. Google Search is known for the command list, the list of both useful and sometimes-comical, easter eggy things you can ask and say to the voice engine. It should be fun to see if Google has left the list of fun things to do intact for the app, though there is probably no reason not to.
With Google Search adapted specifically for Android TV, are there any other things that should be added for navigation’s sake or otherwise? The platform is still growing into the spotlight, but this is an important move that happened just in time for Thanksgiving in the U.S. next week, when many families will be heading for the living room to watch a good movie, and to get their holiday music and stations playing proudly the day after. Do you think the app’s specialized app will draw any attention, or is it just one of those ‘glad that works better’ kind of things. LEt us know down below.
